Major Safety Standards & Safety Marks

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the associated International Organization for Standardization (ISO) are the principal agencies responsible for electrical safety standards. Agencies such as Underwriters Laboratories (the) and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) provide certification in North America. At the same time, similar bodies in Europe are Verband der Elektrotechnik (VDE), Technischer Überwachungs-Verein (TUV), and British Standards Institution (BSI).
