What are the characteristics of the Schuko plug?

On a Schuko plug (old and new generation), the grounding is done by two lugs located on the inner edges of the female socket. These side tabs are positioned at 0 and 180°.

The original Schuko plug was not equipped with a hole allowing the passage and the connection with the grounding terminal of the E-type plugs. This is why the old Schuko plug is not compatible with French plugs.
