what Use of magnetic rings Around DC Power Cords

What are magnetic rings?

The magnetic rings are a common anti-interference component in electronic circuits, for high-frequency noise has a perfect suppression effect, generally using ferrite materials (Mn-Zn). The magnetic ring has different impedance characteristics at different frequencies.

Typically, at low frequencies, the impedance is minimal. When the signal frequency increases, the magnetic ring performance impedance increases sharply. We all know that the higher the signal frequency, the easier it is to radiate out (buying a high-quality computer case also reduces electromagnetic leakage). The general signal lines are not shielded. These signal lines become an excellent antenna to receive a variety of clutter in the surrounding environment, high-frequency signals, and these signals superimposed on the initially transmitted signal, and even change the original transmission of valuable signals.

Then under the action of the magnetic ring, the standard valid signal is well through, but also a good suppression of high-frequency interference signal through, and low cost. So it is not surprising that you see the plastic lumpy one-piece magnetic rings on monitor signal cables, USB connection cables, and even high-end keyboards and mice.

Electromagnetic waves can act with electronic components to produce an interference phenomenon called EMI (ElectromagneTIc Interference). For example, the standard “snowflake” TV fluorescent screen will indicate that the received signal is interfered with.

Their impedance characteristics characterize the ability of EMI absorbing rings/beads to absorb interference. The inductive impedance value is deficient in the low-frequency band and does not affect the transmission of valuable signals on the data or signal lines. In the high-frequency band, starting at around 10MHz, the impedance increases. The inductive component remains small. The resistive element increases rapidly, dissipating the high-frequency band EMI energy in the form of thermal energy absorption. The absorption characteristics of EMI absorbing magnetic rings/beads are usually calibrated using two critical points of resistance at 25MHz and 100MHz.

How to use magnetic rings?

EMI absorbing magnetic rings are often used to suppress interference on power and signal lines and also have the ability to absorb electrostatic pulses.

1. directly on one or a bundle of power and signal lines, to increase the interference absorption energy, can be repeatedly wound several times.

2. EMI magnetic rings with mounting clips for compensatory anti-interference suppression.

3. can be easily clipped onto power and signal lines.

4. flexible, reusable installation.

5. Self-clipping fixing does not affect the overall image of the equipment.

The role of the magnetic rings on the DC power cord

The power cord magnetic rings that install the magnetic ring on the DC power cord are called the power cord magnetic ring. Then how to install, to put the magnetic ring on the power cord to play a lasting effect, to make the DC power cord encountered interference problems, a complete solution, the electrician home to sum up the experience to share with you, I hope that we encounter such issues in the future, can be solved with better methods.

There is interference on the power cord. Usually, the DC power cord is inserted in electronic equipment or other electronic products to appear interference, the wire itself is no interference, as long as the use of electronic products, electronic effects to the collection of interference in the power cord, there is interference on the power cord, interference can be the electronic product transmission errors, interference can make electronic products can not run.

As long as the DC power cord with a magnetic ring can better solve the interference on electronic products because the power cord is the transmission of electronic products must go through, the magnetic ring installed in the power cord can be better to combat interference.

The magnetic ring is usually worn directly on the power cable and protected by injection molding so that the call is not so easy to touch and break, or it can be wound more than once. The more it is wound, the better the result. You can also use a magnetic ring with a plastic case that clips onto the power cable, also known as a clip-on magnetic ring, which is easy and quick to use. You can also wind the ring more than once if you have enough space. Try to choose a ring with a large volume, a small-bore, and a long length because it contains more material, and the more material it has, the stronger the performance.

Inspection methods

1. The appearance of the ring can be checked visually under normal lighting conditions.

2. The external dimensions of the ring can be inspected under normal lighting conditions using vernier calipers with an accuracy of 0.02mm.

3. The comprehensive factor of the magnetic ring is measured with a “CF-3A magnetic ring sorter”, the excitation current is set at 2.5A, and the frequency is 40KHz.

4. The 4-turn inductance of the ring is measured with a “YD2810D LCR digital bridge” at a frequency of 1 kHz.

5. The inductive electromotive force of the ring is measured with “UI100 high frequency power source” and “UI9720 magnetic material dynamic analysis system” under the specified conditions.

6. The Curie point of the magnetic ring is measured with a “YD2810D LCR digital
